Discussion on developing research collaboration between Brown University, USA and State University of Bangladesh (SUB)

On Thursday, January 9, 2020 a discussion meeting was held between Brown University, the United States and the Department of Public Health, State University of Bangladesh (SUB). Dr. Susan Cu-Uvin, currently working as Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Medicine at the Alpert School of Medicine, Brown University and Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice at the School of Public Health. She is the Director of the Brown Global Health Initiative and Ruhul Abid, MD, Ph.D., currently working as Associate Professor of Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School and Principal Investigator at Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC), Cardiothoracic Surgery Division at Rhode Island Hospital were present. On the other hand, the honorable President, Board of Trustees, State University of Bangladesh Dr. A.M. Shamim, Vice-Chancellor, Professor M. Shahjahan Mina, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor. Dr. Anwarul Kabir, Shamsul Wares, Dean of School of Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Nawzia Yasmin, Dean, School of Health Sciences and Head, Dept of Public Health, Registrar Bahauddin Muhammad Isa, Professor Dr. Shaker Ahmed, Department of Business Studies and other faculty members and students from Department of Public Health were present at the meeting.  
There was a discussion on possible collaboration between the two universities and they emphasized on initiating the research collaboration among the faculty members and students. The Brown University delegates also illustrated their intention to support in achieving competitive scholarships for higher studies and research activities at Brown University, especially for SUB students. Both universities agreed on developing joint research based on emerging public health issues.
