Prof. Dr. Nawzia Yasmin, Professor and Head, Department of Public Health, SUB, earned her Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Sydney, Sydney, Australia in 2000. She also completed Certificate in Clinical Ultrasonography course from Bangladesh Institute of Medical and Dental Technology, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2001. She earned her Bachelor of Medicine & Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from Dhaka Medical College, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1993. She has been working as a faculty at the department for the last 14 years since January, 2003. She teaches Public Health Nutrition, Reproductive Health, General Aspects of Public Health (case study), and Communication Skills and was evaluated by the students and by her peers as ‘excellent’. Dr. Yasmin has tremendous capability in designing and operation of health research to generate knowledge applicable to evidence based health policy and programming particularly for the peoples of developing countries. She has excellent skills in designing and developing research/program proposal, and managing large multidisciplinary team. She has proven experience in preparation of projects and research proposals; develop tools and implementation of survey/research on public health, social / behavioral science and clinical trials. In addition, Dr. Yasmin works as Supervisor/co-supervisor of thesis research projects (approximately 600 studies) at SUB. She has 67 publications including 9 international publications and attended in national and international conferences/seminars/workshops. She is a Member, Bangladesh Medical & Dental council (BMDC); Life Member, Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA); Member, Public Health Association of Bangladesh.
