Seminar on Lean & Six Sigma for Operational Excellence

School of Business of State University of Bangladesh (SUB) organized a seminar on "Lean & Six Sigma for Operational Excellence" at the Seminar room of SUB at 11:00pm on 1st December 2011. The program was chaired by Dr Nazrul Islam, Professor & Dean, School of Business of State University of Bangladesh. Mr Kazi Atif Anwar, Director, BBA Program, School of Business also spoke on the seminar. The seminar was conducted by Mr. Muhammad Obaiudul Ghani, Principal Engineer, St. Jude Medical Inc., USA as a resource person.

In his lecture, Mr. Muhammad Obaiudul Ghani emphasized on the use of Lean & Six Sigma for increasing the operational excellence of an organization. He mentioned in his lecture that there are 5 principles of Lean Approach such as, defining value, defining value stream, understanding flow, producing at the pull of customer, and continuously strive for perfection. In six sigma DMAIC methodology, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control are used in operational process at work. What he tried to say that we shall have to minimize wastage of time at the operational level of our work to improve our efficiency at work.

The seminar was coordinated by Ms. Nipa Saha, Senior Lecturer, School of Business of SUB. Honorable Vice Chancellor of State University of Bangladesh, Faculty members, and the Senior Students of School of Business attended the seminar and participated in open discussion.
