Seminar on “Responsibility of the youth in preventing HIV/AIDS” by Department of Public Health

A Seminar on “Responsibility of the youth in preventing HIV/AIDS” was jointly organized by Department of Public Health, State University of Bangladesh (SUB) & Shahid Dr. Fazlee Rabbee Foundation, on 3rd April, 2010, at 11:00 A.M. in SUB seminar room. Prof. Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury, VC, State University of Bangladesh (SUB) presided over the seminar. Advocate Sultana Kamal, Executive Director, Ain-O-Salish Kendra and Advisor, Former Caretaker Government delivered her address as Chief Guest in the seminar. Prof Dr Md Nazrul Islam, Ex-VC, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), presented the key note paper. The seminar started with the welcome address by Dr. Nawzia Yasmin, Head Dept. of Public Health, SUB where Md Gofranul Haque, Deputy Managing Director, Destiny 2000 Ltd., Dr Rifat Hossain Lucy, Coordinator, Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Sharfuddin Ahmed Sharif, Former Project Director, BGMEA-UNFPA Project spoke as Guest of honor. The seminar was organized to have an insight into the knowledge, attitude and leadership of youth regarding this burning issue. The youth must have adequate knowledge and positive attitude to be in the leadership position. These issues were discussed by Prof Dr Md Nazrul Islam, Ex-VC, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the keynote paper which was followed by interactive discussions among the participants. The speakers emphasized on raising awareness among the young leaders to combat against HIV/AIDS.
