  Dr. A K M Nawshad Hossian, PhD is a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Hematology and Medical Oncology at Emory University School of Medicine, Georgia, USA.Emory University is one of the world’s leading universities in immunology. He obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy (Hons.) (8th batch, 2010) and Master of Pharmacy (2nd batch, 2011) from the State University of Bangladesh (SUB). He earned his Ph.D. in Pharmacy from the University of Louisiana Monroe, Louisiana, USA in 2020. His Ph.D. thesis was focused on investigating the role of combinatorial micro-RNA against lung cancer and the development of a novel nano-drug delivery system. Prior to joining the University of Louisiana at Monroe, Dr. Hossian also worked as a research fellow at Rowan University, New Jersey, USA. Dr. Hossian is currently working on gene and cellular therapy for solid (Lung, Pancreatic) and hematological malignancies (Leukemia). The overall goal of his research is to develop genetically engineered immune effector CAR T cells to treat cancer. Over the years, Dr. Hossian has published 17 research articles, authored book chapters, and presented his findings in different international conferences. He is a member of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy, the American Association for Cancer Research, and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. He also serves as reviewer of many scientific journals, including Frontiers in Immunology. Dr. Hossain has been awarded several grants and scholarships, including Ted D. Price Memorial Superior Graduate Student Scholarship in Pharmacy (for consecutive three years), George Beacon Memorial Scholarship (for consecutive three years), Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) poster presentation award, and Bangladesh-Sweden Trust Fund travel grant. The Department of Pharmacy, SUB is really proud to have such a brilliant alumnus. We wish him to succeed in his future endeavor.
